I got her to pull the scent request back and trade it for something else. She went for dust. I sort of cheated on it a bit, not putting it into the actual scene. I’m sorry for that. I’m also sorry that this has no real resolution in sight. Just a lot of set-up and no actual delivery.
In my sad defense, I wrote 1,000+ words in response to a ‘drabble’ request. (Even if the beginning was previously written material. I asked before I employed it!)
It’s been a long, frustrating night.
